Day 8 of the Kindness Challenge

Day 8: Getting the kids involved

If you have children or step-children at home, do something today to help your children appreciate your wife more. For example, pick one or more of these ideas:

  • If you don't already, remind them to thank Mom when she serves a meal.
  • Ask them what they did to help their mom today. If they look at you blankly, ask them to take five minutes, come up with an idea, and implement it at some point today or tomorrow.
  • Train them on a household chore that they will sometimes do, instead of your wife, going forward.
  • If you're doing a gift journal, have your kids write an appreciative note to your wife.
  • If your children are grown and out of the house, ask one to reach out with a phone call or email to your wife just to say "thanks for being a great mom."

Coach's corner:

Mothers want to be appreciated on more than just Mother's Day. Developing a daily attitude of gratitude in your children is not just great for your wife – it will help your kids learn that attitude in other areas of life.

Which unseen obstacle keeps you from stating praise?

The research found ten common and usually unrecognized obstacles that keep us from stating praise. See Chapter 7 of The Kindness Challenge to determine which you should conquer. It will make your wife very happy.

The 30-Day Kindness Challenge is brought to you via our partnership with Shaunti Feldhahn, and is based on her research for The Kindness Challenge.
