Day 26: Those Unseen Efforts
Identify a sign of maturity and growth in your child that you have not previously noticed. Maybe, you realize, she has begun saying "thank you" without a nudge from you. Or is becoming adept at introducing himself and shaking hands when meeting someone new. Dig deep; there is almost sure to be something that you have not noticed: and it is probably something your child wishes you had noticed! Then tell your child how impressed you are that they are growing up and becoming such a great person. "I noticed recently that you have become so well-mannered and thank others whenever something is given to you." "You are growing up so fast. I love how you include others in your conversations so they feel welcome."
Coach's Corner: Notice your child's reactions to your acts of kindness; it may be the best incentive for a repeat performance. The 30-Day Kindness Challenge has been about building great habits for a great relationship. And what will help keep those great habit going is to keep on being mindful of the other person and what they are doing, and showing your appreciation.
The 30-Day Kindness Challenge is brought to you via our partnership with Shaunti Feldhahn, and is based on her research for The Kindness Challenge.
