Dear *|FNAME|*,
People love to see people fail. We criticize celebrities, predict their failures, and examine all the aspects of their fiascos.
But what does that say about our hearts?
Jesus tells a story in Luke 15:11-32 about a father with two sons who will one day each inherit part of his fortune. The younger son asks for his inheritance early and when he receives it, he goes out and wastes all his money on wild living.
As he finds himself hungry and feeding pigs in a field, he realizes that his life could be better if he were to go back home, beg the forgiveness of his father, and become a servant in his father’s house.
So he returns home. But while the son is still a long way off, the father comes running to greet him, gives him a robe and a ring, and immediately throws a lavish celebration with joy that his son has returned.
Well, the older brother doesn’t share in the father’s joy – and refuses to join in the celebration. And the reason is because at his core, he’s exalting himself and pushing his brother down.
That older brother is just like many Christians today who like to put down the broken and the hurting people they read about or see on TV. But Jesus calls us to a higher standard.
I want to show you how Scripture teaches us to love the broken like Jesus does by sending you my 8-message CD series, Exposed.
