Day 24: Following up
What is one area in which you have recently tried to empathize with or bring encouragement to your person? Whatever it is, ask how that particular task or situation is going, then further encourage them with "great job," "you are so good at that stuff," "I'm hoping that will turn out well in the end", or other praise wherever possible — or commiserations where appropriate.
Coach's Corner: Sometimes, commiserating during disappointments can be just as affirming as cheering successes. The key is knowing whether the other person just wants you to listen to their feelings about the disappointment (more common for women), or whether they feel like a failure and inadequate and simply prefer to know you still think they've "got it." (More common for men.)
The 30-Day Kindness Challenge is brought to you via our partnership with Shaunti Feldhahn, and is based on her research for The Kindness Challenge.
