Day 8: Brag About Him
Brag on him in public. That's right. The men in the research said they'd be ecstatic if they knew their wives just happened to mention something that they did well to someone else.
Today, or in the next few days, figure out a natural way to brag to someone else about your husband. Be specific. Was he helpful with your child's math homework? Did he save your family money by repairing the dishwasher himself or replacing the outdated thermostat? Or maybe he's shown progress on a fitness or weight loss goal? Whatever he's done, tell someone - your friend at the office, a neighbor, or even your entire book club! And, be sure to include it in your gift journal, too.
Then tonight, just oh-so-casually tell him, "I was talking to the girls at the office about the scouting trip and told them how great you were with the boys ..." He may play it cool as he listens, but pay close attention and you'll see how his face lights up!
Coach's Corner:
Most of us want to be affirming; yet the research found we don't actually state praise as often as we think we do. Keeping the need for praise at the front-of-mind each day (as you do during the 30-Day Kindness Challenge) is crucial to building a real kindness habit.
Which unseen obstacle keeps you from stating praise?
The research found ten common and usually unrecognized obstacles that keep us from stating praise.
