Day 22: Turn complaints into compliments
Turn previously made complaints into present-day praise. If you have spoken unkindly about your child to a friend or coworker, make that right today by sharing positives instead. For example, if you realize you've griped about Joey's work ethic, Elizabeth's sleeping in and missing practices, or Nick being such a slow reader, turn it around. "Joey made the A-honor roll. I'm so proud of him! He's really worked hard in school this semester." "Elizabeth took second place at her track meet yesterday. You should see her run. She is lightning fast!" Or, "Nick has been working so hard on his reading skills. I can tell a huge difference from the beginning of the year."
Coach's Corner: As you develop your kindness habits, it is important to not only keep your own mindset positive, but to work to heal any concerns you may have previously raised in the minds of others. (Have you already been working to heal some of those concerns? Share those stories — carefully! — on your blog or on social media, using #JoinKindness.)
The 30-Day Kindness Challenge is brought to you via our partnership with Shaunti Feldhahn, and is based on her research for The Kindness Challenge.
