Day 1 of The Kindness Challenge

Day 1: Rave on responsibility

Let's get started on the 30-Day Kindness Challenge! Here's your optional tip for today:

Look closely for some praiseworthy behavior in your child today, that you wouldn't have noticed or commented on before. "The dentist told me how well you've taken care of your teeth since your last check-up; I'm proud of you, buddy." "You've done an excellent job in keeping your room neat this week." Or "I can tell that you have been working on being nicer to your brother."

Coach's Corner: You may already think you praise your child a lot. And maybe you do! But maybe there's a lot you've been missing, without realizing it.

Of the three distinct elements we are practicing during the 30-Day Kindness Challenge—nixing the negative, practicing praise, and carrying out kindness --do you know which you already do well, and which you most need to work on? Many people don't. The Kindness Challenge research found that practicing each day is the best way to become aware. Log in your personal notebook what you try each day, what happens, and what works best as you go. If appropriate, post your observations on social media, and see advice from others, using #joinkindness!
